Another day

Holly’s appetite’s been off since her 3rd round of chemo, but not as bad as after the 2nd round.  She had her follow up bloodwork done yesterday and today her results came back – wbc was 2800.  The vet said that’s a dip, but not terrible.  She wouldn’t eat breakfast today and threw up this morning… but is now eating dinner which is a good sign.  The vet put her back on the metoclopramide (anti-nausea), so that might be helping.  I’m struggling with whether to continue chemo… I hate seeing her uncomfortable for so long after it.  Our vet feels that she’s doing well enough that we should continue.  I think we’ll do round number 4 and see how she does with that.

Her energy has remained pretty strong, except for Saturday when we all wanted to nap.  But you’d never know her tummy was bothering her if you were to see her – she’s still getting excited by life, her tail is still up, she’s still giving lots of kisses.  So the outward signs continue to look awesome!  We’ll celebrate that life is good today – and it’s a sunny day at that!

I think we’ll take a nice walk after dinner… her favorite thing to do! 🙂  As Bob always says, we must feed her spirit!

  2. Poor Holly and her upset tummy.

    Chemo sucks.

A walk will make her feel better, I’m sure. Hope she feels better soon!

  3. I hate upset tummies, it’s just the worst!

Glad you had some dinner, there’s nothing like a walk in the sunshine after dinner.

Hope you feel better, real soon!

  4. Hope Holly feels better soon. Holly’s very similar to Mackenzie’s reaction – it takes days for her to recover from the chemo. It’s just so hard to watch them go through this but then they always seem to bounce right back as if they never even had the chemo. I bet lots of treats will do the trick!
The good news is that she still likes to go on walks (always a great sign) and is excited about life. Can’t ask for anything better than that. I’d say that those salmon treats are calling her right about now…..good luck with the next couple of days. She’ll be her bouncy self again before you know it! xoxo Kami & Mackenzie

  5. Holly G,

I knew something was wrong! I could feel your vibe all the way over here in Vegas!
Please, please, please stay perky and well – you’re my palsy-walsy!

I’m going to send you good vibes back with a little song Brian Wilson and I wrote when I was a member of the Beach Boys (they called me Blondie):

    “I’m pickin’ up good vibrations
    She’s giving me excitations
    I’m pickin’ up good vibrations
    (Oom bop bop good vibrations)
    She’s giving me excitations
    (Oom bop bop excitations)
    Good good good good vibrations
    (Oom bop bop)”

    { Repeat a dozen times}

Comet – not just cool, but California cool!

  6. OMD – ok I have to say that Comet California cool dog makes me laugh every time. I love this song and you even have all the oom bop bop booms right. You’re amazing Comet Dog! I’m sorry Holly’s Mom but I had to comment on this comet not just cool, but California cool post (which is where we’re from.)

  7. Hang in there Holly! Chemo sucks, but hopefully it will do it’s job so it is worth the yucky feeling for a little bit!

Naps are good, but keep enjoying life! Give lots of kisses and tail wags!

    XOXO
    Dillon and Rhys
