Our vet called with the results of Holly’s bloodwork yesterday, and all levels were good! She has (thus far) tolerated her chemo very well. She’ll go for her 2nd treatment on Feb 9th. Her energy levels have been really good – and she is really much more interested in everything going on in our house and neighborhood than she had been the past few months. She’s eating well, too. We’re so happy to have her feeling good again! We met with her oncologist yesterday, who said it was ok to start her on K9 Immunity (thanks to Maximutt for sharing his!), and glucosamine, and ground flax seed. We’re trying ground flax seed for now since I also eat ground flax seed so it’s one less thing for me to buy and keep track of, and the oncologist said it should have similar benefits to flax seed oil. And Holly seems to like it sprinkled on her food.
Today we celebrated by taking a long walk with her friend Zeus. I should have taken pictures, but forgot my camera. It was the longest walk she’s had since her amputation – which was exactly one month ago! It’s hard to believe how far she’s come in the last month. So we’re thankful for nice walks with friends, and lots of doggie kisses in our house!
A really great blog entry! Here’s to many more in the future!
Hoppy Ampuversary!!
What a cute girl!
Good news from the vet and a nice walk with friends, what a great way to spend the day!

Congratulations on your one month ampuversary! Holly sounds like she’s doing great! I’ve read about the K9 Immunity and wanted to find out more information on it. I almost bought it when Mackenzie was first diagnosed (actually called their customer service) but then I got caught up in all the other things we were going through and put it on the backburner. Maybe I should reconsider it now if it seems to be an effective way to fight this cancer off or at least slow down the growth.

Happy one month!!! And she sounds like she is doing great!!
Keep up the good work.

Wooo hoo! Congratulations on making it through the month so successfully. You have an awesome sounding oncologist, who is s/he?
Way to go, Holly Girl! –Opie
Thanks for all the nice comments!
Holly’s oncologist said the K9 immunity couldn’t hurt, although she did point out that she’s not aware of any clinical studies that have proven its effectiveness – just anecdotal evidence. But she supported me in wanting to try it. We’re lucky to have her, and the animal hospital where she works, close by. She is Dr. Wiedemann, at Arboretum View Animal Hospital in Downers Grove, IL. It’s about 30 minutes west of downtown Chicago. Arboretum View is part of the Bright Heart group – I think others here have used Bright Heart facilities. We’re also thankful to have a wonderful vet who is working with Dr. Wiedemann to help give Holly the chance for more happy days ahead!
anyemery, thanks for posting your oncologists info. If you have time, be sure to add her to our Referrals Forum.
Also, you may want to point her to the K9 Immunity clinical trial that my oncologist conducted, which I took part in.
It’s so great you have such a cool team on your side. How lucky!
Congratualtions Holly we are both doing so well on our one month ampuversary! I am taking Glucosmine and Omega 3 as supplements and of course the chemo pill daily.
We seem to be on the same track full of energy with a good appetite so lets keep all paws crossed that things continue to go so well for a long time to come!
Your friend from across the border Tehya!
Congratulations Holly! Keep up the good work and feeling good! Walks with friends and doggie kisses are the best!
