Holly’s home

Our 8 year old Wheaten Terrier, Holly, came home on Wednesday, 12/30, from her surgery.  She was diagnosed with bone cancer in her right hind leg, and that leg was amputated on Tuesday.  She’s doing fine so far – she has some experience with being 3 legged since she had surgery on that leg about 8 weeks ago to remove part of her femur so we could figure out what was going on with her leg.  So, she’s been more or less using only 3 legs since that earlier surgery, which we think may be helping her with getting around now.  So far she’s in good spirits, and is eating and drinking well.  We’re happy to have her home!  She wants to get back to her old routine – we’re trying to keep her quiet for now.

  2. Hi Holly,

I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis… but happy to hear that you are home now… Relax and heal from your surgery. Hopefully you’ll be back to your old self in a few weeks.

  3. Hi Holly,
My pug girl Maggie is also a rear amp.
I hope the recovery goes well as the first two weeks can be bumpy with all the meds and such. Seems like you have a head start with 8 weeks of practice and another pretty major surgery just done.
If you haven’t already you should check out the forums- lots of good info and support.

  4. Hi Holly’s Mom, we are almost on the same time line! My Golden had her surgery on Dec. 29th and came home on the 31st. Bone cancer as well and she had her right front leg amputated. She’s 10 yrs old and is doing amazingly well. I will continue to follow Holly’s recovery and keep all paws crossed for her.
